Gypsum MCN Fingering - Rusted Turquoise

Regular price $33.00
Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminium, with the chemical formula CuAl6(PO
4)4(OH)8·4H
2O. It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gem and ornamental stone for thousands of years owing to its unique colour.
The substance has been known by many names, but the word turquoise dates to the 17th century and is derived from the French turques for "Turks" because the mineral was first brought to Europe from Turkey, from mines in the historical Khorasan Province of Persia. Pliny the Elder referred to the mineral as callais and the Aztecs knew it as chalchihuitl.

All our yarn is dyed with professional dyes in a smoke free home studio.

We try to take pictures of our yarn that accurately reflect the colours but monitors may vary in how they display them.

Due to the nature of hand dyed yarn no skeins are identical. If you are wanting to make a larger project please send us a message and we will create a listing just for you and dye the quantity you need. All custom orders have a lead time of 4 weeks as they are dyed to order.

Also, due to the nature of hand dyed yarn there may be some bleeding during the first wash so we do recommend you had wash all handknits in cool water and separately from other items.

Our yarn comes from a smoke free but pet friendly home. Although my pets are not around where I dye/store yarn please use caution if you have allergies.
