Opal is a hydrated amorphous form of silica (SiO. 2· nH2O); its water content may range from 3 to 21% by weight, but is usually between 6 and 10%. Because of its amorphous character, it is classed as a mineraloid, unlike crystalline forms of silica, which are classed as minerals.

Knit Gauge: 27-32 sts/4in (6.75-8 sts/in)
Needle Size: US 1-3 (2.25-3.25mm)
Crochet Gauge: 21-32 sts/4in (5.25-8 sts/in)
Hook Size: B 1-E 4 (2.25-3.5mm)
Our Mica sock base is a fingering weight yarn made of 75% Superwash merino wool, 20% nylon and . It is a soft, sparkly yarn that shows stitch definition really well.
All our yarn is dyed with professional dyes in a smoke free home studio.
We try to take pictures of our yarn that accurately reflect the colours but monitors may vary in how they display them.
Due to the nature of hand dyed yarn no skeins are identical. If knitting with more than one (1) skein we recommend that you alternate skeins. If you are wanting to make a larger project please send us a message and we will create a listing just for you and dye the quantity you need. All custom orders have a lead time of 4 weeks as they are dyed to order.
Due to the nature of hand dyed yarn there may be some bleeding during the first wash so we do recommend you had wash all handknits in cool water and separately from other items and lay flat to dry.
Our yarns come from a smoke free but pet friendly home. Although my pets are not around where I dye/ store yarn use caution if you have allergies.
